Chapter 15 — Use Cases & Reference Implementations

One-sentence goal: Provide five reproducible, end-to-end use cases—spanning Physics → Framing → Modulation → Propagation Compensation → Switching/Queueing → Metrology → Arrival-Time Harmonization → Runtime Release—and bind them to P/S/M/I/C and manifest.packet.* so engineering teams can land and audit quickly.

I. Scope & Objects

  1. Coverage (five use cases)
    • U15-A: Metro DWDM optical-packet transport (coherent 100–400G, cascaded ROADM);
    • U15-B: Intra-DC coherent optical interconnect (≥400G, short-reach / low-latency);
    • U15-C: Metro FSO backup link (weather-adaptive / availability assurance);
    • U15-D: Hybrid OTN/packet-optical (OCS + OPS cooperation, protection & detours);
    • U15-E: Lab → Production manifest-driven release (A/B with canary rollback).
  2. Inputs: per-use-case link & device inventories, RefCond, frame_spec, traffic and SLA.
  3. Outputs: end-to-end manifest.packet.* set (phys / mod / label / comp / tarr / swrt / meas / queue / rt / sec), contract report, and panel snapshots.
  4. Boundary: This chapter does not re-derive formulas; it references the respective S / M / I / C in Chapters 2–14.
