Chapter 1 — Overview & Scope of Use
I. Dependencies
- Core (required): Core.Terms v1.0, Core.Equations v1.1, Core.Parameters v1.0, Core.Metrology v1.0, Core.Errors v1.0, Core.DataSpec v1.0. Citations must use “volume + version + anchor (P/S/M/I)”.
- Methods & Metrology (strong): Methods.Repro v1.0, Methods.SimStack v1.0, Methods.Inference v1.0, Methods.Falsification v1.0, Methods.Cleaning v1.0, Methods.Imaging v1.0, Methods.CrossStats v1.0, Methods.SynthData v1.0, Metrology.TimeBase v1.0, Metrology.Sync v1.0, Metrology.Instrument v1.0, Metrology.PathCorrection v1.0.
- Data & Engineering (companion): Data.DatasetCards v1.0, Data.ModelCards v1.0, Data.Pipeline v1.0, Data.Benchmarks v1.0; template family: Protocol Card, Error-Budget Card, Parameter Registry Card, Pipeline Card, Model Card (all Template v1.0).
- Fixed cross-ref format: See "<Volume> vX.Y" <Chapter> <Anchor>, e.g., See "EFT.WP.Core.Equations v1.1" Ch.2 S20-1. Any arrival-time expression must explicitly declare gamma(ell) and d ell, and record delta_form.
II. Scope of Use
- Document type & purpose: Authoring, review, release, and reproducibility of Particle Technical Notes (PTN). Covers standardized writing for abstract & scope, control equations, testable predictions & falsification, data & pipeline contracts, implementation bindings, result presentation, and limitations.
- Style & layout: Section headings use Roman numerals in bold; bullet lists use “- space”; ordered lists use “1. space”. Inline symbols use backticks; any expression with division, integrals, or composite operators uses parentheses and declares path/measure. Do not use Chinese characters in formulas, symbols, or definitions.
- Numbering & naming: Axioms Pxx-?, minimal equations Sxx-?, metrology workflows Mx-?, implementation bindings Ixx-?. Enforce conflict names: do not mix T_fil (tension) with T_trans (transmittance); do not mix n with n_eff.
- Version & stability: Every citation must carry an explicit version (e.g., EFT.WP.Core.Tension v1.0); public releases cite only v1.*. If a v0.* draft is cited, mark “draft / non-committal” in text.
III. Non-Scope (Explicit Exclusions)
- Not a complete derivation of domain theory; such content resides in Core volumes (Threads/Sea/Density/Tension) and Methods volumes.
- Not a substitute for engineering implementation manuals or hardware documentation; file those under engineering/data template families (Pipeline/Benchmarks/Protocol/Instrument, etc.).
- Not a vehicle for external policy or licensing; follow Core.DataSpec v1.0 and dataset-card processes for compliance and release.
IV. Milestones & Deliverables
- M1 | Terms & control-equation alignment: Finalize minimal symbols.yml and equations.md; see: → Core.Terms v1.0:P10-*, Core.Equations v1.1:S20-*; pass check_dim. Deliverables: term/equation cards, dimension-check report.
- M2 | Predictions & falsification plan: Positive/negative criteria, thresholds, and power analysis; see: → Methods.Falsification v1.0, Methods.CrossStats v1.0. Deliverables: predictions.csv, falsify.md.
- M3 | Data & pipeline contract: Freeze dataspec.json and pipeline.yaml; exports must include references[] and version. Align fields/units with Core.DataSpec v1.0; align metrology chain with Core.Metrology v1.0. Deliverables: data contract and pipeline manifest.
- M4 | Experiment/observation & metrology: Geometry, calibration, synchronization; see: → Metrology.TimeBase v1.0, Metrology.Sync v1.0, Metrology.Instrument v1.0, Metrology.PathCorrection v1.0. Deliverables: protocol cards and calibration scripts.
- M5 | Error budget & result presentation: Error sources, propagation, composition; unified visualization and scoring; see: → Core.Errors v1.0, Methods.Imaging v1.0, Data.Benchmarks v1.0. Deliverables: error-budget card, score sheets, results board.
- M6 | Release review & reproducibility: Citation lint (version + anchor coverage ≥ 90%), reproducibility scripts, export manifests; adhere to Methods.Repro v1.0 and the citation specification. Deliverables: release bundle and reproducibility report.
